Celebrating Change

When was the last time you celebrated a personal victory by rewarding yourself?

Today we're going to talk about taking the time to give yourself credit for all of your hard work. Personal growth takes time, patience, and self-reflection. Every so often, it's important to look back and realize just how far we've come over time.

Each January, I type out my personal yearly goals and hang them on my board in my office.

I separate the goals into categories: Educational, financial, career, relationship, and personal. From a personal perspective, I can't believe how effective goal setting has been for me in making progress in my own life.

Writing down a goal is like asking the universe for something-

Even though you might be uncertain how you're going to achieve it, the request stays imprinted in the back of your mind. When the opportunity comes up, chances are more likely that you'll take it! It's amazing to think that only 2% of the world's population writes down their goals - and studies have shown that these 2% achieve more success than those who don't.

Today's activity focuses on improving your confidence, self-satisfaction, and motivation for the future.

We are about 6 weeks away from January 1st, when we'll take the challenge of starting to write down our goals for the year. Your task this week is to think about the successes that you've already achieved in the past year - big or small. Type them out on a sheet of paper and hang them somewhere important to you.

Examples can be:

  • Bought a new care
  • Started a new relationship/ended a bad relationship/got engaged/ got married etc.
  • Read 6 new books that I was interested in
  • Got a promotion at work
  • Lost weight
  • Attended couples therapy
  • Nurtured a healthy child
  • Went on an amazing vacation

In addition to reviewing your successes, sit down to a cup of tea every once in a while to ask yourself how satisfied you feel on a scale of 1-10. Pay attention if that number is anything less than an 8. When we're able to look back, be mindful, and reflect o our successes, we are much more likely to stay on track with our wellness goals.

It's important to feel happy, embrace, and accept that you've had many successes in your life and that they'll continue to come your way.
