Free Mental Health Resources in Toronto

When the world feels overwhelming, it can be helpful to remember there are free resources that you can access right away.

The following resources are available to help with a broad range of issues related to emotional crisis and emotional distress.

5 Free Mental Health Resources Available in Toronto

Help is available to you and there are countless people ready and willing to listen, validate and support you through these resources and more.

1. Distress Centres of Greater Toronto

Distress Centres of Greater Toronto is a service agency dedicated to providing timely emotional support, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention to people in distress.

Programs:

  • Talk Suicide
  • 408-Helpline
  • Multilingual Distress Lines
  • Survivors of Suicide and Homicide Loss

2. 408-Helpline

408 helplines

The 408 Helpline offers 24/7 support in English from trained volunteer responders.

The issues they can help with include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Emotional distress
  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Physical or emotional abuse
  • Social marginalization and mistreatment

The Multilingual Distress Line is available from Monday to Friday, 10am to 10pm.

They offer counselling services in:

  • Urdu
  • Hindi
  • Punjabi
  • Spanish
  • Mandarin
  • Cantonese
  • Portuguese

3. Talk Suicide Canada

4. Wellness Together Canada

Wellness Together Canada provides free resources for mental health and substance use support.

They offer services including:

  • Community and peer support groups
  • Self-directed wellness and mindfulness programs

5. Canadian Mental Health Association

The Canadian Mental Health Association offers a range of community-based services, allowing them to provide mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual support services.

CMHA Toronto “takes a client-first, recovery-oriented approach to supporting people and their families when they experience mental health challenges or live with mental illness. 

By integrating health and social care, they provide services that aid in long-term wellness.”
