As an intake therapist at KMA Therapy, I often hear people ask, “How do I even know that therapy is working? When will I get better? Was therapy even the right move?”
It's not uncommon to hear that therapy just isn't working for you.
If you feel like therapy isn't working for you, don't worry, you're not alone.
3 Reasons Why Therapy Isn’t Working
I'm going give you the top three reasons why therapy might not be working for you and what you can do about it.

If you feel like you can't be honest with your therapist that they're judging you are that their tools are calculated. It might just be the case that your therapist is not that good. Just because they were recommended by somebody, even a doctor doesn't necessarily mean that they're a good therapist. But don't worry, there are tons of amazing therapists in your city that you can go to trust your instinct. If you feel like something is off, it's probably off.
2. You’re Seeing the Wrong Therapist
Number two, you and your therapist are just not that good of a fit. Your therapist may be great, but they're just not great for you. Your first experience with a therapist might not be the perfect fit, but that doesn't mean that there'll be all together isn't a good fit for you. You'll know what therapist is a good fit when you can have a little bit of fun in your sessions, build that rapport and really have that comfortable feeling every time you're in session. They should also have experience working with the issues and the goals that you are bringing into session.

There are tons of different types of therapies including:
- CBT
- DBT
